Edmond J. (Ed) Martin, CFE, TPLI retired from the IRS Criminal Investigation Division in October 2001, after more than 26 years as a Special Agent.

Since January 2002, Martin has lead Sage Investigations, LLC in investigations involving embezzlement, due diligence, wrongful death investigation, assisted in Federal Defense representation in a bribery and a mortgage fraud investigation. He also assisted the City of Austin, Travis County, and Hood County in public corruption investigation. He offers his services to the public in complex cases, following the money trail in investigations financial fraud and estate pilferage.

    Martin was awarded a Meritorious Service award 2005 by The Texas Association of Licensed Investigators.

In 2006 Martin received the TCI designation “Texas Certified Investigator” after testing and a practical exercise. There are only 40 such investigators in the State of Texas.

Martin taught investigative techniques to Certified Fraud Examiners, the State Auditors Office, and Citizens Patrols. He speaks regularly to civic organizations. He was instrumental in the development of a Financial Investigative Techniques Course for Law Enforcement and Fraud Examiners.

During his tenure as a Special Agent, Martin investigated complex income tax evasion, fraud, and five multi-million dollar Ponzi schemes. Martin now makes his broad based abilities available to the public. Martin has be interviewed on American Justice, American Chronicles, TruTV, A&E and Discovery for his the investigation of the disappearance and murder of Madalyn Murray O’Hair and her children. Martin has investigated a number of Ponzi Schemes in Texas including Texas Realty Ventures, Austin Forex International, Inc. ($50 Million), Bryan Stearns ($40 Million) and others.

These cases included complex analysis of financial data, tracing time, tracking victims and criminals, all of which culminated in a trial and conviction or a plea. Martin has testified in Federal and State Court both as fact and summary witness.

From 1984 to 1987 Martin worked for the Texas State Securities Board as a Supervising Examiner investigating securities fraud, including oil and gas, investment contracts, and other fraud schemes.

In 2002, Martin was awarded the "Circle of Excellence Award" from the 100 Club of Central Texas and the "Service Above Self Award" from the Austin Rotary Club, both for investigative excellence
