Sage Investigations, LLC started in January 2002, after Edmond (Ed) Martin retired from the IRS Criminal Investigation Division with 26 years of service to the US Treasury Department and the citizens of the United States.

Experience

Ed Martin has been a consulting defense expert witness in Federal criminal cases and as an expert for a Special Prosecutor in a county embezzlement case. He also assisted the City of Austin, Travis County, and Hood County in public corruption investigation. Sage has assisted Fortune 500 companies with internal investigations of employee wrong doing.

Martin’s specialty is forensic accounting and has used those accounting skills in divorce cases, corporate fraud investigations, theft and embezzlement, misconduct by County officials, theft of intellectual property, and many other cases relating to following money through bank accounts. He has over 40 years experience in Certified Fraud Examination.

Acclaim

During his tenure as a Special Agent, Martin investigated complex income tax evasion, fraud, and five multi-million dollar Ponzi schemes. Martin has been interviewed on American Justice, American Chronicles, TruTV, A&E and Discovery for his  investigation of the disappearance and murder of Madalyn Murray O’Hair and her children. Martin has investigated a number of Ponzi Schemes in Texas including Texas Realty Ventures, Austin Forex International, Inc. ($50 Million), Bryan Stearns ($40 Million) and others.

Martin is a member of the Texas Association of Licensed Investigators (TALI), Designated Texas Certified Investigator (TCI), Association of Former IRS Special Agents (AFSA-IRS), Forensic Expert Witness Association (FEWA), Intellenet and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE). He was president of the first chapter of the ACFE.
